these images were shot (in africa and mexico) with film — the stuff new photographers can't wait to get their hands on, and those of us who spent countless hours in the darkroom now view with nostalgia. i miss it, and I don't. i'm a tech-y girl in a tech-y world and digital suits me just fine.
both of these places were awe inspiring and humbling to me in ways beyond words. both left indelible impressions, as travel will do.
at our last stop, londolozi, handwritten notes on handmade paper were placed atop each persons bed. mine was a quote by wordsworth that read "nature never did betray the heart that loved her". that night i slept alone in a freestanding room in the middle of the bushvelt, and i felt safe.
